Top Rank’s Todd duBoef tells Sky Sports that there are advanced negotiations between WBO welterweight champ Terence Crawford and former IBF champ Kell Brook, plus an earmarked date and working location.
Both Eddie Hearn and Brook himself had already spoken positively about the fight’s chances.
If they do indeed push this over the finish line, it will be Crawford’s first bout since a gritty victory over Egidijus Kavaliauskas last December and Brook’s first appearance at 147 since a grueling 2017 loss to Errol Spence Jr. It ain’t exactly the ideal matchup for a pound-for-pound standout, but with nearly the entirety of the modern welterweight elite fighting under other banners, it’s probably the best we can get.
